1) In Alexander Dumas’ book, The Three Musketeers, the author presents the reader with a fictionalized slice of early seventeenth century French history.
In this essay, you must distinguish between the historical characters and fictional ones (Hint: there was a real d’Artagnan and a real Athos), and try to reconstruct the early seventeenth century topography of Paris as depicted in the book. You must make reference to the text and to your knowledge of the city.
2) Or do the same for Hugo’s novel, Notre Dame de Paris. Here, as is the case in Part I, references to both of Colin Jones’ books are expected.
