You must upload a word document for this writing assignment. You cannot copy and paste your assignment into the text box, it must be submitted as an attachment.

Please include the following components in your paper, citing all resources you use in the body of your paper as well as in your reference list.

Your paper must be in APA format. (APA is the choice for health sciences and you will need to learn it for other courses).

Do not include an Abstract.

Include headings; level I, and level II, as appropriate.

Include in text citations as necessary. Any statement that is not a thought or feeling of your own needs a citation.

Include an introduction and conclusion.

This is not a 3 page paper, its more like 4-5 not including the title page and reference page.

Assignment Instructions:

Throughout this course we explored how each body system responds to bouts of aerobic and resistance exercise. In this final paper, you will use knowledge from each week to craft an Exercise Plan for a fictitious client. Your previous assignments and forums will assist you with a scientific explanations for your decisions.

1. Consider your client’s baseline information (see below). You can use an actual person, a fictitious average person, or yourself.

List your “client’s”

Age

Height

Weight

Next consider these additional factors:

a. Vo2 Max – How would you assess it? What information would the results provide and how would it affect your design of a training program for your athlete?

b. Resting Heart Rate – How would you assess it? What information would the results provide and how would it affect your design of a training program for your athlete?

c. BMI – How would you assess it? What information would the results provide and how would it affect your design of a training program for your athlete?

d. Body Fat Percentage and/or One Repetition Max – How would you assess it? What information would the results provide and how would it affect your design of a training program for your athlete?

2. List and describe your client’s goal(s). Some examples include increasing their aerobic fitness, increasing muscular strength or muscular endurance, improving their body composition, etc. Remember that goals should be “SMART” – specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and timely.

3. Provide a detailed 4-week exercise plan that you design to help them reach their goal(s). Include the modes of exercise, intensity, duration, frequency and how the individual would progress as they saw improvements. You can summarize these components in a table or use bullet points for clarity.

4. Include a summary describing the rationale for your plan. This information can be obtained from forums, and previous assignments. You will state things like “increased/decreased cardiac output is beneficial/not beneficial to my client because…(explain why) and was achieved through ________ modes of exercise, using _______ intensity, etc”. This is where you will discuss items like specificity, overload, etc. Also, where you would include the types of energy systems your client will need to train in to reach her/his goals.

For the paper, include data from at least 3 sources (peer reviewed or from our required reading list, or instructor’s additional sources) that support your proposed exercise plan and its ability to meet your client’s goal(s).
