d. EXAMPLE: It is a Chinese practice that after giving birth, a mother may only have warm fluids to drink such as teas and soups (provide additional information behind this practice). There may be healthcare implications as far as the nutritional value mothers receive during this time. It will be important to educate the mother as to how many bowls of soup or cups of tea would be appropriate to maintain nutritional health and encourage the addition of varied foods/vegetables in the soup. Also assisting by warming drinks or foods would also be a considerate gesture.
