At the beginning of your post, list the following pieces of information in writing:
Your approved research question from your Research Proposal and Background Research assignment (HOW DOES AUTISM TAKE A TOLL ON FAMILIES?).
A thesis statement that answers your question and/or makes an argument about your topic based on your research.
Then, in a paragraph of approximately 150-200 words, provide evidence and reflect on your research topic by answering the following questions:
How has your understanding of your topic evolved as a result of your research in this course?
What evidence did you find that led you to the conclusion presented in your thesis statement?
Use at least three specific examples from different sources and provide both in-text citations for those sources as well as full citations for the sources at the bottom of your post.
Is there anything else you would like to say about your topic?
In another paragraph of an additional 150-200 words, reflect on your research process by answering at least three of the following sets of questions:
What were the easiest and the most difficult parts of your research for this class?
(THE MOST DIFFICULT PART OF MY RESEARCH PROCESS WAS FINDING ARTICLES THAT ACTUALLY RELATED TO MY QUESTION – THE MOST EASIEST PART OF MY RESEARCH PROCESS WAS HAVING A DIRECT TOPIC)
To what degree where you able to develop effective search terms and search strategies?
(I WAS ABLE TO DEVELOP EFFECTIVE SEARCH TERMS BY JUST TYPING IN 2 WORDS, INSTEAD OF A WHOLE PHRASE)
How did your search terms and search strategies evolve over the course of your research? (MY SEARCH TERMS EVOLVED BY USING 2 WORDS INSTEAD OF USING A WHOLE PHRASE)
How did our exploration of bias affect your research process, your process of evaluating sources, and/or the sources you chose?
(MY EXPLORATION OF BIAS AFFECTED MY RESEARCH BECAUSE I WAS ASSUMING THAT AUTISM AFFECTS FAMILIES BEFORE I EVEN STARTED MY RESEARCH. SO WHEN I DID NOT FIND ANYTHING AT FIRST, I WAS A LITTLE FRUSTRATED)
Now that you have done this research do you feel more confident using library catalogs and databases, and internet search tools, for research? Why or why not?
(NOW THAT O HAVE DONE THIS RESEARCH USING LIBRARY CATALOGS AND DATABASES, AND INTERNET SEARCH TOOLS, I FEEL MORE CONFIDENT BECAUSE I UNDERSTAND HOW TO BETTER NAVIGATE THEM AND I KNOW THAT I NEED TO USE SHORT PHRASES OR 2 WORDS TO SEARCH FOR MY TOPIC.)
What search tips or strategies did you learn in this class that you can use in other areas of your life? (AS FOR STRATEGIES THAT I HAVE LEARNED IN THIS CLASS THAT I CAN USE IN OTHER AREAS OF MY LIFE, WOULD BE LOOKING THROUGH AT LEAST 5 DIFFERENT DATABASES WHEN TRYING TO FIND INFORMATION ABOUT A TOPIC.)
Is there anything else you would like to say about your research process? (NO)
At the end of your post, include a Works Cited list with the full citations for the sources you refer to in presenting evidence for your thesis statement.
