Help plan and work on one or more nonprofit events for this assignment, and write one report on all of your activities. This project(s) must take at least 15 hours of volunteer work outside class, and these hours cannot count for an internship or applied projects course, or for another class. Write a report/reflection paper on your activities, and include a Log of Volunteer Hours and an Event Critique of one event. These documents are located in the assignment dropbox. 1. Give your report a cover page (with title, your name, course title and number, etc.), and use headings and subheadings to organize it. In the introduction, give the name of events/activities, dates and times they were held, and venue. 2. Then, discuss each event separately. You will know the answers to most of the questions, but if you don’t know, just skip that question. a. Tell what your responsibilities were before, during, and after the event. b. Discuss the target audiences for the event. How appropriate are these audiences for this particular event? What other groups or individuals should be added to the target audiences? c. What research did the organizations do before planning the events? Did anyone ask people if they would attend such an event or what they thought of that kind of event? d. Why did the organizations do the events? What do you think their objectives were (to gain more visibility, to attract more donors and volunteers, to have a lot of fun, etc.)? Were the objectives specific and measurable? What should their objectives be? Can you think of more objectives? e. Evaluate several aspects of the event including site/venue, theme, food, entertainment, decor, parking/transportation, safety and risk issues, etc. What was good and what was not so good? f. How did they use volunteers and members? How were they treated? How should they have been treated? How might they be more effectively used for the next event/activity? g. What types of publicity and media coverage did the event have? What should be done next time? h. Did they evaluate the events in any way? Did they count attendance, ask people if they liked the event, would come again next year? Was a meeting held soon after the event to critique it? What evaluation should have been done that wasn’t done? i. What do you recommend for the event when it is held the next time? What would you change if you planned and worked it again? 3. Reflect on your participation in the event(s) and fundraising. What did you learn about yourself? State your career and volunteer goals and apply what you learned from your experiences to those goals. 4. Append a log documenting your hours on these events/activities (dates and times worked), and fill out one Event Critique form for one event.
